Got the linings installed yesterday and sanded the assembly flush on a large piece of melamine with 80 grit sandpaper stuck to it. It's now ready for the top to be glued on. I had this top aready made up a few years ago and I had to remove it from my botched rim. It has been trimmed to the old rim and doesn't quite fit this new one. It's close enough that I can make it work by slightly distorting the rim in one spot with a wedge. After I route it for binding it will look perfect. The 1/16" of distortion won't be noticable so I'm pretty satisfied. After laying the top onto the assembly, I checked the fit for gluing and it looks like I can just put glue on and put a bag of sand on top for pressure and I'll have most of the joint done. I can always go around after and tighten any areas that appear to have a gap. Again, very easy with hide glue and I have done it this way before with success.
Here are some pics of the process so far.
